Meet the captain of Ghana’s deaf national women’s football team

Mercy Amoah is a Ghanaian Deaf female athlete. She is currently the captain of Ghana Deaf Football National team, the Diamonds.

Mercy is a multi-talented athlete who is excellent in other sports disciplines too thereby making her the captain of the Deaf Women’s national volleyball team as well.

Also called Mercy Champion, this versatile captain is poised to lead the Diamonds to victory as they represent Ghana in the Deaf football competition in Nairobi Kenya from 11th to 26th September, 2021.
This tournament will qualify the Diamonds for the World Deaflympics games in Brazil next year.

Mercy Amoah is currently the only deaf female Footballer who plays in the mainstream. She plays as an attacker for Team Blessed Ladies, a women’s Division One side in Accra.

She has scored 19 goals with 2 assists in the nine matches she has featured in for her club.

Right-footed Mercy is very disciplined, has excellent passing ability, vision, ability to read the game, ability to make interceptions, strength and Stamina.
