The first edition of the Aisha Buhari Invitational tournament is an association football tournament organized by the Nigerian Football Federation for the female national teams.

The tournament is in honour of the First Lady of Replubic of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Buhari and it is aimed at uplifting the girl child in the continent.

The inaugural edition of the Aisha Bihari cup comprises six nations:- Ghana, South Africa, Cameroon, Mali, Morocco and the hosts Nigeria.
It is themed “PLAYING FOR GOOD”

The πŸ‡¬πŸ‡Black Queens of Ghana have been drawn in Group B of the tournament alongside the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon and the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.
The hosts, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, are in Group A together with the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco and the Female Eagles of Mali.

Two top teams from Group A and B will move on to the semi-final stage of the competition.

Hosted by Nigeria, the tournament is slated for 13th September to 21st September, 2021.

The Aisha Buhari cup comes forth as some sort of “dress rehearsal” for the Black Queens of Ghana who will be locking horns with the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers later this year.

Interestingly, Ghana’s first edition of the First Lady’s Cup in honour of the first lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs Rebecca Akuffo Addo, will take place on September 5, 2021.
